Course Overview
When facing maternal or neonatal outliers, or concerning fetal heart tones, a well trained response save lives. This 8-hour course provides evidence-based training specifically tailored for the community birth setting.
Core Topics Include:
Intermittent Auscultation in a Community Setting
This course requires completion of Intermittent Auscultation Simulation-Based Education-a 1 hr online course - prior to the hands on learning. The course is offered through Primary Maternity Care and the Institute for Perinatal Quality Improvement (PQI), and the cost is included in the course fee.
Preeclampsia and Neonatal Hypoglycemia
Maternal Sepsis
Shoulder Dystocia
AFE/DIC/Maternal Cardiac Arrest
Course Features
Clinical Mastery: Learn the latest evidence-based algorithms.
Community Integration: Focus on navigating outliers and facilitating smooth hospital transports.
Holistic Support: Ethics, team dynamics, and "hot debriefing" techniques are woven into every module to foster a culture of safety.

Apply your fee as a credit toward a Midwives Untethered virtual service (consult, drill, or training).
Convert your fee into a deposit for a future course (must be scheduled within 12 months).
Exceptions for emergencies may be made by contacting the instructor prior to the course.
